On the occasion of World Kidney Day 2026, TANUH AI-CoE successfully launched its Renal Health Vertical on 12th March 2026, marking an important step toward transforming kidney care through the power of Artificial Intelligence and clinical collaboration.
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) continues to be a major global health challenge, affecting 850M+ people worldwide and an estimated 115M individuals in India. The newly launched Renal Health Vertical aims to address this growing burden by developing AI-driven solutions for early detection, risk prediction, and proactive disease management.
The event featured insightful talk from Dr. Sundar Swaminathan — Medical Principal Investigator, Renal Health, TANUH AI-CoE; Endowed Chair Professor & Head, Department of Nephrology, Tata-IISc Medical School. The perspectives presented emphasized how advancements in technology are shaping the future of renal care.
The Program Manager of the Renal Health Vertical, Dr. S. Hema priyadarshini, was introduced, and she shared insights on how AI-enabled clinical intelligence has the potential to transform renal healthcare, enabling a shift beyond conventional diagnostic approaches toward more proactive patient management, including:
1. Early detection of Chronic Kidney Disease
2. Prediction of 2–5 year kidney failure risk
3. Data-driven insights for timely intervention and prevention
The launch brought together clinicians, researchers, and technology mentors committed to reimagining kidney care through interdisciplinary innovation. We thank all participants, collaborators, and stakeholders who joined us in this important milestone. Together, we are working toward a future where AI empowers earlier diagnosis, better clinical decisions, and improved outcomes for millions living with kidney disease.
