The TANUH Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) has completed both statutory registrations required under the New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules, 2019. The IEC has been registered with the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, effective as of 21 July 2026. This authorises the committee to perform the functions of an ethics committee for biomedical and health research as specified in Chapter IV of the Rules.

The IEC has also been registered with the Central Licensing Authority, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, effective 11 August 2026. This authorises the committee to perform the functions of an ethics committee for clinical trials and bioavailability/bioequivalence studies as specified in Chapter III of the Rules.

In its review and functioning, the committee is guided by the ICMR National Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical and Health Research Involving Human Participants, which set the national standard for the ethical conduct of research in India.
