India's non-communicable disease burden is escalating rapidly, and it is arriving early. Onset is now being recorded in the mid-forties, roughly a decade ahead of most developed nations, and the systems meant to catch these diseases early, monitor them over decades, and treat them at scale were not designed for that timeline. AI has a real claim to changing this. Across diagnostics, screening, prevention, monitoring, therapeutics, and scale-up, there are opportunities that did not exist even five years ago, and India already has a nascent ecosystem of innovators working on exactly this, quietly and without much structural support. 

TANUH, the AI Centre of Excellence in Healthcare hosted at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, in partnership with the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), is building on this ecosystem by launching the TANUH – C-CAMP Innovations Program, focused on identifying and nurturing promising Indian-developed AI-based innovations that address priority non-communicable disease (NCD) areas.

Focus areas in NCDs (including but not limited to)

• Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases

• Cancer (Oral, Breast, Cervical, and Lung)

• Chronic Respiratory Disorders

• Musculoskeletal Disorders

• Metabolic Liver Diseases

Grant categories

The TANUH - C-CAMP Innovations Program aims to provide customised, stage-appropriate support to selected innovations across three technical readiness levels. A total grant pool of ₹2.25 Cr+ will support at least eight innovations across three stages:

• Idea to Proof of Concept 

• Proof of Concept to MVP

• Deployment-ready 

What selected innovations receive

• Grant funding

• Incubation support

• Access to C-CAMP's technology infrastructure

• Mentorship and handholding

• Regulatory guidance and IP support

• Clinical validation and pilot deployment support

• Offerings are grant-specific and matched to stage

Who can apply

• The innovation must have a significant AI component and meet the Technical Readiness Level (TRL) range for the category it applies to.

• The applicant must be an Indian startup registered under the Companies Act, 2013, with at least 51% shareholding held by Indian citizens. OCI and PIO cardholders do not qualify.

• The company must be a Private Limited entity and must own the IP related to the proposed innovation. LLPs, individual innovators, and sole proprietorships are not eligible.
